1. Why does a spring-loaded design close faster than a standard swing check valve?
A spring actively pushes the plates shut the instant forward flow drops, rather than waiting for gravity and flow reversal to swing a disc closed — that faster closing response is what reduces valve chatter and water hammer risk in systems with frequent flow fluctuations.

2. Can the same valve platform really cover both cryogenic and 650°C service?
Not the same material configuration — the -101°C to 650°C range reflects what's achievable across the platform's different material and trim options, not what a single valve handles simultaneously. The specific body, trim, and seat materials need to be matched to your actual operating temperature.

3. RF or RTJ — which end connection should I specify?
RF (raised face) is the standard choice for most general industrial service; RTJ (ring type joint) gives a more robust, higher-integrity seal and is typically specified at higher pressure classes or where the application can't tolerate any risk of gasket blowout.

4. Does a wafer check valve work in a vertical pipeline, or only horizontal?
Both — it's rated for horizontal or vertical installation, with flow direction (not gravity) determining plate closure, unlike a swing check valve where vertical installation is typically restricted to upward flow only.

5. What's the maximum size this platform is actually practical for, and what limits it?
While the range extends to 64 inches, plate weight, spring force calibration, and overall valve cost all increase substantially at the largest diameters — for very large transmission lines, it's worth confirming with the factory whether a wafer design remains cost-competitive against alternative check valve types at that size before committing.
